The Trophy & Print Shop celebrates 30 years in Norton, North Yorkshire
The Trophy & Print Shop in Norton is celebrating its 30th anniversary. What started in 1995 as a home business has grown into a trusted, family-run supplier of trophies, medals and bespoke engraving for clubs, schools and businesses across Malton and the wider area of Ryedale in North Yorkshire and beyond
A short history — from a kitchen table to Commercial Street
Alan Rudgard started the business from home in 1995, working evenings and weekends. In 1997 he opened his first shop in Norton and moved to the current premises at 30 Commercial Street later that year.
In 2000 the business became a family operation when Alan’s sister, Jane, joined the team. This year Jane marks 25 years with the company. A key moment came in 2012 with the acquisition of Cameo Engraving in York, a move that broadened the shop’s services and regional reach.
Our approach: practical, personal, precise
“Never a problem, just a new challenge,” says Alan. That simple motto has guided the business for 30 years.
We focus on:
- Clear advice and fast quotes for clubs and schools.
- Bespoke trophy engraving that solves unusual or technical requests.
- In-house personalisation to keep lead times short and quality consistent.
What we do — services at a glance
We offer a broad range of awards and engraving services, including:
- Trophies and presentation cups
- Medals and ribbons for sports and events
- Crystal and glass awards for corporate recognition
- Bespoke engraving on metal, glass, wood and jewellery
- Annual trophy retouching, plate replacement and memorial engraving
Thanks to ongoing investment in engraving technology, most personalisation is completed in-house — from simple name plates to complex, one-off commissions.
Serving the community
For three decades we’ve supplied local schools, sports clubs, charities and businesses. We’re proud of long-standing relationships with local organisers and clubs across Malton, Norton and North Yorkshire.
If you’re organising an event or award ceremony, bring your brief — we’ll recommend the right trophy or medal and handle the engraving to deadline.
A word from the owner
“I had nearly let it slip by unnoticed. I can’t believe it has been 30 years,” says Alan.
“We’ve always tried to treat every job seriously — the odd piece of work other people wouldn’t touch. That attitude has kept customers coming back.”
